Hello. This is my first post so please bear with me.

Your records show that my grandfather's brother Henry Franth Freeman born Didcot, Berks. Service no. 044608, Battalion: 8 was killed in action in France. It also gives a grave no. MR0018. Could anybody give me an indication where that is located?
Your site also gives a private Williams with the same grave number. Does this mean it was a mass grave because he is recorded as dying on the 12th June 1918, 13 days afterwards?

I have also found out that my great-uncle's name appears (via CWGC) on the Soissons Memoral saying he died on the 30th May 1918, the date corresponds with the 3rd Battle of Aisne 27th May-3rd June 1918 but I can't find any record of the Gloucestershire Regiment taking part and Private Williams also died after the battle? It also says age unknown for Henry F Freeman but he was born in 1899 and is on the 1911 census living in St. Austell, Cornwall as a 12 year old school boy so he must have been about 18.

Would he have both a grave (as your records indiacate)and be on a memorial? Please could you enlighten me any further on the subject. Many thanks G

The grave reference is to the Soissons memorial. This means that he had no known grave. He was killed 30 May 1918 during an enemy attack. The 8th were holding a line near the village of Lehry at the time.

Thanks for the info Steve

Sadly I have been unable to locate any village called Lehry anywhere in the region of Aisne or in France. Is it the correct spelling or is the village no longer there?

Please could you supply the source so I can cross-reference.

Many thanks

Gary
